The Problem with AI
Artificial intelligence (AI) has been all the rage lately, with advancements in machine learning and natural language processing allowing AI systems to do all sorts of impressive things. But let’s be real here: AI is never going to be all that it’s cracked up to be. And here’s why.
For starters, AI is just too darn complicated. Have you ever tried to understand how a neural network works? Yeah, neither have we. And even if we could wrap our brains around it, do we really want to spend our precious time learning about matrix multiplications and backpropagation? I think not.
Another problem with AI is that it’s not nearly as intelligent as it thinks it is. Sure, it can beat us at chess and Jeopardy!, but can it tell a good joke? Can it solve a Rubik’s Cube in under a minute? Can it do a keg stand? I didn’t think so.
But the biggest problem with AI is that it’s just not human. It doesn’t have feelings, it doesn’t have a sense of humor, and it definitely doesn’t have a soul. And let’s face it, without those things, life just isn’t worth living. So let’s all just accept that AI is never going to be as cool as we want it to be, and move on with our lives.
The Dramatic Twist
Well, the reality is everything up until this point was written by AI with the prompt “write a blog on why AI will fail with a humorous tone”. I hope this tricked you to help realize quite how crazy chapGPT and AI is. The hot take on fintwit right now is that the best AI will replace google search. Seems like a hot take, but it is flying around for a reason. The functionality here is amazing. The use cases pile up quickly, answering questions, creating content, customer service, etc…
AI is here and it likely will be the next bubble. The hype is here, the applications are cool and the real game changing applications are probably 10 years out. It’s the perfect recipe for a bubble.
